The King’s Awards
This week has seen a flurry of activity to complete various client entries for The King’s Awards. While I’m usually a bit of a cynic about these kinds of awards, I’ve seen first hand the impact winning these can have on a UK business.
Around a decade ago, one of our clients was one of only four companies in the UK to scoop two of these awards in the same year – for both innovation and international trade. The impact was significant and lasting. While the British might be fairly ambivalent about The Royal Family, anything associated with HRH (particularly the late Queen) got huge amounts of attention across the rest of the world. For this company, it directly led to new business opportunities, especially in Commonwealth countries.
A few years later we helped another company win an International Trade award and – once again – the impact was meaningful and immediate. Within 12 months the company had been acquired by another business, partly driven by this success and other significant award wins.
So while it’s now too late to enter for 2024, it is certainly worth British success stories looking at next year’s entry – and wider programmes of award entries. While the requirements can be significant (so start early) the rewards are too.
If you are thinking seriously about how award entries can help your business, read this blog I wrote, on why companies should bother to enter awards or drop me a line to see how we can help.
